Anwai Roy, daughter of the respected musician Kalipada Roy, grew up in an atmosphere where music was not simply heard — it was lived, practised and deeply respected. From her early years, Anwai's journey was shaped by riyaaz, discipline and a profound love for Indian classical music.
The musical values she inherited from her family became the foundation of her own journey as a vocalist and teacher. Through Aalaap Sangeet Academy, Anwai continues to share this heritage with young learners, emphasizing that music is a journey of both the mind and soul.
Her teaching focuses not only on swara, raga and taal, but also on patience, expression, confidence and the joy of discovering one's own musical voice. As a disciple of my parents and guru I started my journey of learning indian classical vocal music from five years of age , I also invent raag in world of classical music

We preserve the traditional oral method of teaching music where knowledge is transmitted directly from the teacher to the student. This helps students absorb the subtle nuances, emotions, and expressions of each raga that notation alone cannot capture.
